The ‘Mule’ - Traditional Press

The ‘Mule’ - Traditional Press
BrayOak Apple Cheese Press

BrayOak Apple Cheese Press

At BrayOak we wanted to make a truly unique Cider press.  Adapting the design of a tradtional screw press, we used two ‘G’ clamps to give us the pressure to press our apple cheeses.

The press is entirely home made, with all of our materials coming from Bunnings.

We called our press the ‘Mule’ because of its four legs on which the press stands on.  The bench itself is infact a fold away truss, which give us the added benefit of being able to be easily stored away.

Although the Mule can take two cheeses at a time, we found that for best results we could press one cheese at a time.  This gave us maximum pressure, without bending or breaking the plywood plates between cheeses.
